Educational Toys: not the wooden blocks that I recall

Published: 24 February 2006

The closest thing that I recall as an educational toy of my own was a set of wooden blocks and a matching hammer!

Today, there are quality, educational toys that define motor skills, expand maths development, as well as enhancing creativity.

You can start your baby off on the right foot with great educational baby toys. These are now safe, educational, environmentally aware toys and accessories, including musical instruments, science and nature items and much more.

Parents know that if the educational toys or baby toys are not appealing they will likely just sit on a shelf, so they are created to grab the imagination of the child immediately. These toys provide an educational experience while still generating fun and excitement for your baby.

Finding high quality educational toys that stimulate development and are fun to play with is vitally important. Parents these days are keen to inspire the natural latent wonder and genius that is hopefully evident in their children. LeapFrog is committed to developing the highest quality educational toys.

The year's top educational toys use arcade-style games, music, drawing and even characters from favorite children's TV shows to integrate learning and fun. The Leapster Multimedia Learning System from Leap Frog is an excellent example, and among the finalists for toy of the year. Out of all the electronic learning systems available in the market today, this one ranks pretty high up in the list. Its easy to use, very educational, with touch screen and backlit display enhancing its value.

Children can play, read, draw, and watch interactive videos. Learning games are available in your child's favorite cartoon character including Dora and Spongebob. Electronic storybooks can be read, and the Draw feature encourages budding young artists to exercise their creativity.

So its no longer a case of buying the biggest most colorful toy. Instead, look for those with a high-educational value that stimulate creativity and learning, and most importantly make learning fun!
